Rolando Sanz is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Young Artists of America

Young Artists of America at Strathmore (YAA) is the region’s premier training organization for young collaborative performing artists. It is the only program in the nation where students receive mentorship and individualized instruction from renowned artists while training to perform fully-orchestrated works of music-theatre in state-of-the-art venues. Young Artists of America at Strathmore’s goal is to provide gifted and committed students unique performance and educational opportunities in a professional, nurturing and collaborative environment.

Rolando is proud to bring leading artists from the symphonic and theatre world to work with students at Young Artists of America.

The performing arts have a prominent role at American University. The Department of the Performing Arts, comprised of Arts Management, Audio Technology, Dance, Music, and Theatre/Musical Theatre, provides dynamic, connected, expressive, and fulfilling experiences for majors, minors, and all participating students.

Apprentice & Young Artist Programs

The Young Artist Program at Teatro Nuovo supports its overall mission: cutting-edge interpretation of classic Italian repertory. Program participants work with the greatest possible depth and intensity on a very narrow group of topics, all directly related to the performance of the score. The program puts strong emphasis on the classic building blocks (legato, precision of attack, messa di voce, registration, agility) that are universally honored in name, but no longer widely insisted upon in practice in the profession.

Bel Canto in Tuscany

Head of Young Artist Division
Summer Opera School

Bel Canto in Tuscany (BCT) is a three-week intensive training program for singers and opera coaches that takes place in the charming town of Greve in Chianti, Italy. The new Young Artist division allows serious singers aged 16 and older to jumpstart their understanding of the bel canto singing style and immerse themselves in Italian culture with other high caliber artists. The program allows young artists to prepare for college or graduate school auditions by perfecting their rep with faculty members in daily coachings and voice lessons, while also benefiting from acting classes and Italian language classes, as well as daily masterclasses and lectures.
