“To commemorate its diamond jubilee, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra joined forces with the 70-member Fairfax Choral Society and 40-member Music & Arts Chorus in a presentation of opera favorites. With soprano Danielle Talamantes singing the role of Desdemona and tenor Rolando Sanz as Otello, the duo forged a believable, if somewhat tentative, bond as the star-crossed lovers in the Act I love duet. They both proved better suited for the roles of Violetta and Alfredo from the composer’s “La Traviata,” singing the drinking song “Libiamo” with much sparkle and cheer. Two arias by Puccini proved to be the best showcases for the two soloists: In “Nessun dorma” from “Turandot,” Sanz wielded his tenor sweetly and tenderly…”
